Dr. Heather Annatoyn Dickson graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. She continued working at Providence Hospital for nearly twenty years as a faculty member in their Family Medicine Residency. She split her time between serving as a primary care physician and instructing residents. Dr. Dickson served as Medical Director of the Deighton Family Practice Center.
Dr. Dickson then worked pro bono for several years at a nonprofit social service agency in Detroit serving the homeless population, many of whom suffered from mental illness and/or substance abuse. During this time period, she started additional training in the fields of anti-aging, metabolic and functional medicine. In 2007, Dr. Dickson joined Dr. Pamela Smith to practice medicine concentrating on lifestyle, metabolic and functional medicine.
Dr. Dickson has completed a fellowship offered by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine as well as numerous additional courses concentrating on various topics including Integrative Metabolic Cardiovascular Medicine, Brain Fitness and Memory Maintenance and Metabolic and Functional Approaches to Children’s Health. Additionally, she has taken several courses offered by The Institute for Functional Medicine and Autism Research Institute. Dr. Dickson averages over 125 hours of accredited medical education annually. She also volunteers her time to work with first year Wayne State University School of Medicine students.
Dr. Dickson enjoys practicing in many different areas including women’s health, cardiac and metabolic health, gastrointestinal health, autism spectrum disorders and ADD/ADHD. She cares for children as well as adults.
Dr. Dickson has been married for 35 years. She and her husband Stan have raised six children, all of whom have made their parents proud. She considers these to be her most important life accomplishments.
